Curriculum

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum with creativity at its heart. New themes, studied each half term, are launched by a visit, visitor or enrichment day to motivate the children and stimulate learning. Often lessons are activity based using enquiry as the key to learning with teachers making explicit connections between subjects.

Maths, English and Science occupy a large amount of the timetable with the balance between the remaining subject areas.

A variety of teaching methods are chosen by the teachers which in their judgement are best suited to promote high standards of achievement and behaviour.

The school follows the published requirements of the National Curriculum. In addition, all pupils will take part in Religious Education and a daily act of Collective Worship unless withdrawn at the request of parents.

Religious Education conforms to the Stockport Syllabus as confirmed by the Stockport Education Committee

The National Curriculum, and the Stockport Syllabus for Religious Education, are available for inspection at the school.

Parents are welcome to see the school’s curriculum documents including the Special Needs, and Teaching and Learning Policies which are available on request from the Headteacher.

The school was inspected in January 2006. A copy of the report and the subsequent Action Plan are also available from the Headteacher.
