Special educational needs

We take a pride in our provision for children who may have learning difficulties. We believe that every pupil shares the right to a broad and balanced curriculum whether he or she has a statement of Special Educational needs or not.

When necessary, children are withdrawn from class to be given extra help with their work. Some of this teaching is done by staff from the Learning Support Service. We can also draw on the expertise of the school’s Educational Psychologist, the Speech Therapy Service, Occupational Therapists and other L.E.A. support services.

A room is used as a base for support teaching and as a resource centre for all members of staff.

For children who for a whole host of reasons feel insecure at school, we have a full time Learning Mentor who provides additional care and support in such circumstances.

The school follows the Code of Practice for the identification and Assessment of Special Educational needs and Stockport’s Guidelines on the Special needs Procedure.
